Tank off, first look at the harness

Afternoon. Seat and tank off, airbox and battery box exposed, and the wiring routing photographed before anything moves.

With the carbs already out, the tank was the only thing between me and the wiring. Two bolts at the back, lift the rear, slide it back off the front rubbers.

What’s under there

The harness runs along the left side of the backbone and splits under the seat. The CDI and the regulator/rectifier sit on rubber mounts on the left, the battery box is center, and the airbox fills the rest. Someone has been in here before: there’s tape, and at least one connector that doesn’t match the others.

The point of these photos

None of this was broken. I photographed it because the manual gives you an exploded view and not a routing path, and if you take the harness out you need to know where it went. Every one of these is tagged in the atlas under electrical and airbox.

Photos

Tank and seat off, left side. First clear look at the backbone, the airbox and where the harness runs.
Under the seat, left side: the CDI box and regulator on their rubber mounts, harness along the frame rail.
Battery box from above, battery removed. Wiring to the right, the airbox snorkel behind.
Right side under the seat. Airbox outer wall, the black box is the CDI unit, rear brake light switch wiring below.
Rear of the airbox and the top shock mount area. Mud, but everything is where Honda put it.
Looking down the backbone from the steering head. Harness and the airbox inlet. The gap in the middle is where the tank's rear mount sits.
Left side, tank off, carbs already out. The intake stub on the head is exposed.

Same side, slightly wider. Footpeg, kickstarter, header pipe still on.
