Turn signals off

Front turn signals and the horn ground come off, and the signal stalks get taken apart on the cutting mat.

An evening of small parts. The front turn signals came off the headlight stay and the horn ground came loose at the same time.

The stalks

Honda mounted these signals on flexible rubber stalks so they’d survive a tip-over. On this bike the rubber is cracked where it flexes but still bonded to the metal core, so they’ll live for now. The bushings inside were seized and took some persuading.

Lenses

Faded orange, not cracked. They clean up. The gaskets behind them are another story.

Horn from behind, with the green ground wire and ring terminal unbolted. The perforated disc is the horn body.
Left front turn signal on its rubber stalk, mounted to the headlight stay. Lens is sun-faded but not cracked.
Right front turn signal, same mount, with the cable bundle running past it.
Right signal from the rider's side showing how the stalk bolts to the stay and where the wire enters.
Front end from the left with the headlight off. Signal, stay, bars, and the brake master cylinder.
Wider, same angle. Front end mostly bare. Garage mates in the background.
And from straight on. The headlight stay with nothing on it.
Left signal off and on the mat. Lens, body, the rubber stalk with its wire, and the mounting hardware.
Same, with the rubber grommet and the two mounting screws laid out.
Signal from the back showing the stalk base and the wire exit.
The stalk apart: rubber-covered arm, the metal bushing it pivots on, and the shoulder bolt. The rubber is cracked where it flexes.
Stalk, bushing and bolt. The bushing was the hard part to get out.
Stalk from the other side. The rubber is still bonded to the metal core, which is more than I expected.
